HIPAA does not turn a whole company into something magically private just by saying so. The federal Privacy Rule applies to covered entities, like the health care provider who treats you, and to their handling of your Protected Health Information. So the strong rule reaches the Licensed Clinical Doctor and your clinical record. Plain website data, like which page you opened, is ordinary site information and not the same protected record. We tell you that plainly rather than slapping a compliant badge on everything.

Here is the question most people really want answered. Where does my information go. The short answer is that it stays small and stays close. The Licensed Clinical Doctor reviewing you sees what they need to make a decision. A secure payment processor sees what it needs to take your payment, not your health answers. That is the working circle, and it is kept tight on purpose.

Your landlord does not get your medical file. When you make a housing request, the landlord receives the doctor letter, which confirms a need without spelling out your diagnosis. Your employer is not on the list either. And we do not sell your Protected Health Information to advertisers. If a use ever fell outside treatment, payment and the basic operations behind your care, the rule would require your written authorization first.

Yes. A Licensed Clinical Doctor who treats you is a covered health care provider under the federal HIPAA Privacy Rule. That means the Protected Health Information they hold about you is shielded by those standards, and you hold the rights the rule grants.
